We embarked on our home renovation journey in the middle of February, right before the world as we knew it was set to undergo a transformation itself. We had purchased our home at the close of January 2020, and knew when we bought it that we would be changing almost everything about the space. In pulling together our mood board and design deck, the central theme was creating a light and airy scene that would be grounded by natural wood details and matte black hardware. The Kraus products we chose for our renovation fit both the aesthetic design and build quality that we were looking for in our new home, and I’m so glad that we were able to partner with them to create amazing kitchen and bathroom spaces.

First Stop: Kitchen Upgrade

We started with the kitchen, and were lucky that we really loved the existing layout, so all of the changes were cosmetic. We removed the backsplash, and replaced the brown granite countertops with a bright quartz with subtle veining. Once the countertops were in, we were able to install our sink and faucet. The old sink area was small and cramped, so we wanted to make sure that the new sink we chose was big, functional, and beautiful. The Kraus 27” Workstation Sink was the perfect option for us. We love that the sink maxed out the available cabinet space, and included awesome accessories like the sink protecting grate, and a cutting board and drying mat that nestle perfectly into the lip of the sink. With the help of the included accessories, we’re able to wash & dry produce and prep our meals right over the sink!

The Kraus Arqo Faucet really caught our eye with the modern curve and sleek matte black finish. The pull-down nozzle is powerful and aids in keeping our sink sparkly and clean, a feat in our house! The sink and faucet duo are extremely functional, and arrived in excellent packaging Installation Instructions. As with everything else in this renovation, we completed all of the work ourselves, so we really appreciated how thorough and descriptive all of the Kraus instructions were. Next, we tackled our first of many tiling projects with a white chevron backsplash that modernized the space. Finally, we painted the cherry wood cabinets a warm grey and added matte black hardware to complement our beautiful new sink & faucet combination. We are so happy with how this space turned out, and couldn’t be more grateful to have such a lovely place to be creating new memories.

Next Up: Bathroom Remodel

Our full bathroom renovation was a much more arduous project. The bathroom had the same awful color scheme as our original kitchen; peachy tile, brown granite countertops, and dark cherry cabinetry. We started by demoing the entire room down to the studs. The only original item that stayed in the space was the bathtub. From there, we re-leveled the floors with concrete and put in a new window, drywall and resurfaced the shower with cement board. Tiling is no joke! We learned that with this room in particular. Our new color scheme was based around our stunning sage green tiled shower, with neutral creme and warm grey accents to keep the room feeling light and spa-like.

We built a custom vanity and tiled the countertop to have a continuous visual flow from the wall. We tied in the matte black hardware with Indy Vessel Faucet, and paired it with the Natura Solid Surface Sink. We fell in love with this sink because of its unique matte finish, which was different from most of what we had seen on the market. The Indy Faucet was the perfect mix of hard lines and soft curves, ideal for a couples’ space! Once again, these Kraus pieces were well packaged and provided clear instructions for installation so that we were able to easily outfit the bathroom ourselves. We are beyond thrilled with how the bathroom was transformed from scary and outdated to serene and spa-like.
